HOW TO MEASURE & CONVERT MEASUREMENTS
CONVERTING METRIC TO IMPERIAL AND BACK
When converting Metric & Imperial it is important to know the different conversion formulas and numbers.
EXAMPLE: A MECHANIC'S HELPER, who only knew feet & inches, WAS ASKED TO GET an 18mm wrench
Q. WHAT SIZE IN INCHES IS THE WRENCH? TO START OFF: Every (1/8 inch = apx. 3mm)
A. The wrench in inches is (18/3 = 6) (6 X 1/8 = 6/8ths) - reduced - apx. a 3/4 inch wrench.
Metric & Imperial (a.k.a. feet & inches) measurements are often rounded to an "about" number. |
